AUTHORITY TO DOMINATE | Pastor Fred Adetunji

1. Dominate: To give authority or official power; to empower

a. God gave us the right to dominate, not as in colonization

b. God gave us the right to have Kingdom dominion

Genesis 1:26

And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion

over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and overall the

earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in

his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And

God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,

and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and

over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. KJV

2. Gen1:1 in the beginning God

a. Elohim: God is plural, father-son, and Holy Spirit.

b. He is such a mighty judge that He counsels himself.

c. God gave mankind the Authority to represent Him on the earth.

Ephesians 1:11

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of

him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

3. 3 things to know as you go through life

1. You are not where you are by accident

James 1:2

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying

of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect

and entire, wanting nothing.

2.  You are passing through

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the

called according to his purpose.

3.  You have power over your situation

1 Peter 5:9

“…knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye

have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

4.  But what does “Dominion” really mean?

It is traditionally interpreted as “to subdue” or “to rule over.”

a. Who are we to rule and subdue?

b. If you don’t understand the word you will abuse it

Mark 10:42-45

And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers

of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall

not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and

whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be

served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

5. Authorized to Dominate

The power or right of governing; Sovereign authority; Rule; Control.

a. To exercise dominating power or influence.

Matthew 20:26-27

Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave—…

b. To exercise authority, dominion, or sovereignty.

Matthew 4:19

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

6. God wants to make you ruler of His inheritance. But we have to humble ourselves

Isaiah 57:15

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in

the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit

of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

1 Samuel 15:17

“And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the

tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?”

James 4:6

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto

the humble.”

7. What is Grace?

A pleasing or attractive quality; Favor or goodwill; a manifestation of favor.

a. To work in your authority

● You must submit to the one who gave it to you

● Know the authority is from and for his kingdom

Matthew 28:18

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Acts 5:29

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men

b. The kingdom is not about food and drink

● Authority works with righteousness

● As you were supposed to be

● In the kingdom you dominate and influence by lifestyle

Romans 14:17

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy

Ghost.

1 Corinthians 8:9-13

But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the

weak. For if someone sees you, who have knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will not his

conscience, if he is weak, be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols? For through your

knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

8. You prosper from your soul

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I pray that in every way you may prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul also

prospers

Is The Bible Still Relevant? Tre Townsley MIDWEEK

 Is The Bible Still Relevant?

 Questions of the Bible's relevance typically come from those who read

without understanding, read with pre-existing bias against it, or don't read

it at all.

 What makes something relevant? Miriam-Webster: 1) Having significant

and demonstrable bearing on the matter at hand. 2) Affording evidence

tending to prove or disprove the matter at issue or under discussion.

 Does the subject matter of the Bible have significant bearing on the plight

of man

The Bible is relevant because it deals with issues of man’s origin, purpose, justice

(this age & the age to come), and after-life. Even if one does not believe

redemption is necessary, he/she must acknowledge that these four issues weigh

heavily on the average person and their lifestyle & worldview.

1. Purpose (Why am I here?) In order to know purpose, we must connect with

the originator.

o Genesis 1:26-27 “ 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our

likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl

of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping

thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in

the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

o Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good

works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

o Ecclesiastes 12:13 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God,

and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

2. Justice (Does God care about injustice?)

o Proverbs 21:3 “To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than

sacrifice.” (tsed-aw-kaw):rightness or righteousness

o Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD

require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy

God?” (mish-pawt) to pronounce a just verdict

o Luke 18:1-8 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought

always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, there was in a city a judge, which feared

not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she

came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a

while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard

man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her

continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge

saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto

him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.

Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”

Avenge (ek-dik-eh) vindicate or mete out justice

3. After-Life (What happens next?) For many, the fear of death (or the unknown

after death) is the greatest fear of life. What does the Bible teach?

o 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4, 12-20, 51-57 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the

gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye

stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto

you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that

which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the

scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day

according to the scriptures// 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching

vain, and your faith is also vain. 15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God;

because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not

up, if so be that the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ

raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18

Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19 If in this life only

we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 20 But now is Christ

risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.// 51 Behold, I

shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a

moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound,

and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this

corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So

when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have

put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death

is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy

victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks

be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 3:15 instructs us to always be ready to give an answer to every person

that asks for a reason we as believers are so hopeful. From scientific biological

agreement with eighth day circumcision (Genesis 17:12) to psychological

agreement that a joyful heart can promote physical healing (Proverbs 17:22) to

historical agreement of prophecy fulfilled down to small details (Ezekiel 26:1-14)

and so many more, the Bible has proven itself to be much more than an ancient

document to be cast aside. On the contrary, it continually proves itself to be

accurate and quite relevant even in today’s culture.

RACISM PREJUDICE AND HATRED

I. ORIGIN OF THE SPECIES

1. The Beginning

The Bible does not start off with the creation of a special or privileged race

of people. When the first human being is created he is simply called adam,

which is Hebrew for “humankind.”

Not Hebrews or Egyptians; Not White or Black nor even Semitic. Their

own particular ethnicity is not even mentioned, for the Bible seems to

stress that they are the mother and father of all peoples of all ethnicities.

Adam and Eve are presented as non-ethnic and non-national because

they represent all people of all ethnicities.

Gen 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let

them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over

the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the

earth.” 27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created

him; male and female He created them.

Adam and Eve are ethnically generic, representing all ethnicities. Thus the

Bible is very clear in declaring from the beginning that all people of all

races and ethnicities carry the image of God.

Acts 17:26

And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of

the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their

dwellings

2. The Origin of the Races

Gen 9:18-19

Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

And Ham was the father of Canaan. 19  These three were the sons of Noah, and

from these the whole earth was populated.

3. Genetics

 Genes come in pairs

 Half from Mom and Half from Dad

 Let’s assign A and B to people with lots of Melanin (Dark Skinned)

 Let’s assign a and b to people with small amounts of melanin

 In very dark-skinned groups people have AABB

 In very light skinned groups they carry aabb

 If a male and a female from each group AABB and aabb got together the child

would have AaBb and would be middle brown in skin tone

 If two people carrying the AaBb genes mated they can produce children with

a wide range of skin tones

4. Division According to Genetics

Gen 11:7-9

Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not

understand one another’s speech.” 8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from

there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9  Therefore

its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the

earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the

earth.

The fall of man, the scattering of all generations and the subsequent confusion of

their language, introduced various cultures, traditions and conformations

 They were scattered linguistically and genetically

 Geographic groups began to populate with certain genetic characteristics

 Micro Evolution developed (lips and noses etc.)

II. EARLY BLACK CIVILIZATION

1. Blacks were not cursed but Cushed

In the 19 th  century, both before and after the Civil War, this text was frequently

cited by Whites to argue that the slavery or subjugation of the black races was, in

fact, a fulfillment of the prophecy in this text. These pastors and writers argued

that 1) the word “Ham” really means “black” or “burnt,” and thus refers to the

Black race; and 2) God commanded that the descendants of Ham (Black people)

become slaves to Japheth, who, they argued, represents the White races.

Gen 9:18-27

Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

And Ham was the father of Canaan. 19  These three were the sons of Noah, and

from these the whole earth was populated. 20  And Noah began to be a farmer,

and he planted a vineyard. 21  Then he drank of the wine and was drunk and

became uncovered in his tent. 22  And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the

nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23  But Shem and

Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and

covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they

did not see their father’s nakedness. 24  So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew

what his younger son had done to him. 25  Then he said: “Cursed be Canaan; A

servant of servants He shall be to his brethren. 26  And he said: “Blessed be the

LORD, The God of Shem, And may Canaan be his servant. 27 May God enlarge

Japheth, And may he dwell in the tents of Shem; And may Canaan be his servant.

 The Curse was on Canaan not Ham or Mizraim (Gen 9:25)

 Canaanites were in gross sexual sin (Lev 18:2-23) the same practice Ham did.

 Canaanites were Israel’s future enemies

 Blacks are not cursed they are “cushed”

2. Cush Descendants

Gen 10:6-12

The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. 7  The sons of Cush were

Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabtechah; and the sons of Raamah were

Sheba and Dedan. 8  Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the

earth. 9  He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod

the mighty hunter before the LORD.” 10  And the beginning of his kingdom was

Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11  From that land he went

to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, 12  and Resen between Nineveh

and Calah (that is the principal city).

Cush is another name for Ethopia; Mizraim is another name for Egypt

Put is Libya

a. Mizraim (Egypt)

 Original Egyptians were Black People

One of the early Greek playwrights, Aeschylus, mentioned a boat seen from

the shores, and declares that the crew was Egyptian because of their Black

complexion.

With the rise of Islam also, there was an invasion of Egypt in A.D. 640; this

began the 'Arabisation' of Egypt with a gradual reduction of Black presence.

Prior to this, historians like Herodotus alluded to Egyptians being “black

and curly-haired”.

 First Civilization was ruled by Black People

While yet Europe was the home of wandering Barbarians, one of the most

wonderful civilizations on record had begun to work out its destiny on the

banks of the Nile.” [The History of Nations, Vol.18, (1906), 1.]

Egyptians, i.e. the Blacks, were the first civilization to emerge as a nation as

opposed to a city culture

Egypt's dominance and power started thirty-three hundred years before

Christianity with an initial amalgamation of the Lower and the Upper Egypt.

- Advancements

In his book Slavery in History, Gurowski writes, “Architects, artists, ,

mechanics, operatives, sailors, agriculturists

John W Weatherwax in his writing, The African Contribution said,

“Modern canons, flying missiles, ship propellers, automatic hammers,

gas motors, meat cleavers and even the upholstery tack hammers

were developed in Africa's early use of power.” [John W.

Weatherwax, Ancient Africa: The African Contribution (Los Angeles: J.

Henry and M.L.D. Bryant Foundation, 1962).]

- Agriculture

The Egyptians for example were able to employ their knowledge of

signs and seasons to determine certain days and the length of a year

and especially, to apply it to their seedtime and harvest time.

Ex. farmers’ almanac – their planting guidebook that illustrates the

phases and positions of the moon.

- Engineering

The Pyramids considered by many as the 8 th wonder of the World

were built by black people. They were built with such perfect

symmetry, emanating from the engineering skills of the early

Egyptians. One of these pyramids, known as the Great Pyramid, is

said to be large enough to adequately contain St Paul's Cathedral,

Westminster Abbey, the Basilica of Rome, the cathedrals of Florence

and Milan all together.

They built the Great Sphinx, and at that time it was the marvel of the

world.

The Egyptians also built the temple of Amon that stands three

hundred and thirty-eight feet wide and twelve hundred feet long; the

largest of its kind built by human hands.

- Wisdom

Egypt's advancement in education was known around the world. We

are told in Scripture that Moses was taught in all of the wisdom of the

Egyptians Acts 7:22

1 Kings 4:30

Thus, Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the

East and all the wisdom of Egypt

- Math

The Egyptians not only mastered architecture, they also gave the

world what has become modern calculus.

The Egyptians were the first ones to tame wild horses, breeding them

and bringing forth the finest horses on earth.

2 Chronicles 1:16-17

And Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh; the king’s

merchants bought them in Keveh at the current price. 17  They also

acquired and imported from Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of

silver, and a horse for one hundred and fifty…”

- Fashion

Isaiah 19:9

Moreover, they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks,

shall be confounded.

Prov 7:16

I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works,

with fine linen of Egypt.

b. Chush (Ethiopia)

Ethiopia is the Greek word or term for “burnt faced people” or Black people.

- Prowess

Ethiopia controlled China, India and Afghanistan for ages. In the

words of J. Johnson, “To this very day dwellers of those lands retain

the old Ethiopian symbols, fine art and concepts of science, medicine

and then engineering. The original architectural structures and

municipalities were modified and sometimes mutilated but never

destroyed.”

- Warfare

Ethiopians were known to have engaged Persians, Hebrews,

Assyrians, Arabians and Greeks in wars. Alexander the Great

conquered Egypt easily, but when he decided to devastate and destroy

Ethiopia, he suffered grief and aggravation because Ethiopia forced

him to retreat to Egypt in 332 B.C. Augustus Caesar also fought

Ethiopia but was defeated by Ethiopia in 25 B.C.  Ethiopia was known

to be ferocious in its warfare.

- First High Rise

The Bible's account of the first high rise building was the Tower of

Babel which was initiated by a Black man, Nimrod, a Cushite; another

word for Ethiopia.

It is believed that Nimrod was the same man venerated in Greek

mythology known as Hercules.

III. ORIGIN OF DIVISION AND HATRED

1. Entrance of Shame

Gen 1:24-25

Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and

they shall become one flesh. 25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife,

and were not ashamed.

Gen 3:6-7

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to

the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She

also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7  Then the eyes of both of them

were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves

together and made themselves coverings.

2. The Fall

a. Physical Death

Rom 5:12

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through

sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned

b. Separation from God

Separation from God is spiritual death. Man’s relationship with God died with the

Fall, and he was separated from God, the source of all life.

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is

born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God

c. Change in Relationships

The Fall changed man’s relationships in many ways. It changed his

relationship with himself, other people and even with nature. We are told that

before the Fall the man and the woman were naked but not ashamed (Genesis

2:25). But immediately after the Fall, they realized they were naked and were

ashamed (Genesis 3:7). Shame altered man’s relationship with himself. All of us

now struggle, to some degree, with self-worth because of our sin. One of our

greatest needs is to regain a sense of our value and worth.

Sin also damaged man’s relationship with other people. Immediately after the

Fall, Adam and Eve’s relationship with one another took a turn for the worse.

Adam blamed Eve and God for his sin, and Eve blamed Satan (Genesis 3:8-13).

There was fear, shame and blame but no remorse or repentance. Relationships

began to suffer. It was not long after the Fall that Cain killed Abel (Genesis 4:8).

And not long after that, God was sorry He had even created man. He sent a flood

to destroy man but preserved the human race because of one righteous man and

his family, Noah (Genesis 6:5-8).

Even man’s relationship with nature was affected by the Fall. The world itself was

altered. Originally the earth produced all kinds of fruit. After the Fall, fruit

production was more difficult. God cursed the ground and caused thorns and

thistles to grow to crowd out the crops man needed to live. Man would have to

work hard to survive in this new world (Genesis 3:17-19). All of creation, we are

told in Scripture, was subjected to frustration through the Fall and awaits its

liberation from decay that will occur when God’s children are liberated (Romans

8:19-21)

3. The Fruit of the Fall

a. Cain and Abel

Gen 4:8

Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were

in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him

b. Perpetual Evil

Gen 6:5

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and

that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually

c. Perpetual Division

Shiite and Sunni ; Yoruba and Housa; Hutus and Tutsi’s; Nazi and Jews;

African and Europeans; Aztec

In 1519 a Spanish conquistador named her a non-Cortez landed in

what is now Mexico city. It was the Aztec capital empire. They had a

temple coat Templo mayor a pyramid base with two peaks. There was

a red shrine for the Sun god Huitzilopochtli and a blue shrine fr the

water god Tlaloc.

At the sun god shrine tens of thousands had their hearts cut out of their

chest with flint knives. There hearts were set on fire and held up to the

sky as an offering. Their heads were removed for public display on a

massive skull rack called the Huey Tzompantli, showcasing the skulls

of as many as sixty thousand victims. Bodies were kicked down a 180-

foot pyramid staircase to cannibals waiting below.

For the water god children were before they were ritualistically

murdered because their tears were believed to have sacred powers to

please Tlaloc.

Jer. 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can

know it

4. The Gospel

a. A New Heart

Ezekiel 36:24-27

For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries,

and bring you into your own land. 25  Then I will sprinkle clean water on you,

and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all

your idols. 26  I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will

take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27  I will

put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will

keep My judgments and do them.

b. One in Christ

Gal 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is

neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus

Ephesians 2:14-16

For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down

the middle wall of separation, 15  having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that

is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in

Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16  and that He might

reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting

to death the enmity.

5. Jesus

Jesus broke ethnic and socioeconomic barriers

 He healed he child of a Syrophoenician woman. Matt 15:21-28;

Mark 7:24-30

 He healed the servant of a Roman Centurion. Matt 8:5-13;

Luke 7:1-10

 He often ate with sinners and tax collectors. Matt 9:9-13; Mark

2:15-17

 He befriended wealthy Zacchaeus. Luke 19:1-10

 Honored a poor widow. Mark 12:43-44

 He loved little children. Mark 10:13-16

 He broke health barriers (Healed Lepers) Matt 8:1-4; Luke

5:11-14.

 Welcomed women to serve with Him in Ministry. Luke 8:1-3

 He invited everyone

John 6:37

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I

will by no means cast out

SEXUALITY

 SEXUALITY

I. GOD’S ORIGINAL DESIGN

Gen 1:26-28

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them

have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle,

over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27  So God

created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and

female He created them. 28  Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be

fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the

sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth

Psalm 8:4

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? 5

For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him

with glory and honor. 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your

hands; You have put all things under his feet

Psalm 139:13-16

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will

praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And

that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was

made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes

saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The

days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

The instructions in the Manufactures Handbook…

II. THE BEAUTY OF SEX

The sexual revolution that began in the late 50’s and 60’s has turned sex into

something other than the beauty God created it to be. It’s become almost a dirty

word.

1. It’s the forging of a union

Gen 2:24

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and

they shall become one flesh

1 Cor 6:15-17

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the

members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16  Or do

you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the

two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17  But he who is joined to the Lord is one

spirit with Him

2. It’s Covenantal and Sacred

Deut. 22:13-19

“If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and detests her, 14  and charges her

with shameful conduct, and brings a bad name on her, and says, ‘I took this

woman, and when I came to her I found she was not a virgin,’ 15  then the father

and mother of the young woman shall take and bring out the evidence of the

young woman’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate. 16  And the young

woman’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man as wife,

and he detests her. 17  Now he has charged her with shameful conduct, saying, “I

found your daughter was not a virgin,” and yet these are the evidences of my

daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.

18  Then the elders of that city shall take that man and punish him; 19  and they shall

fine him one hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young

woman, because he has brought a bad name on a virgin of Israel

Ex. Hymen in a lady

Def. A membrane which partially closes the opening of the vagina and whose

presence is traditionally taken to be a mark of virginity

loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And

always be enraptured with her love.

5. It should be Monogamous

1 Cor 7:2 AMP

But because of the temptation to impurity and to avoid immorality, let each

[man] have his own wife and let each [woman] have her own husband.

Acts 15:19-20

are turning to God, 20  but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted

uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness,

which is idolatry

The NT doesn’t change the Leviticus laws.

Ex. Ludicrous to think because we are under grace you can sleep with your

mom and its ok.

IV. SAME SEX PRACTICES

Three sides of this issue (1. What God says about it 2. An aggressive militant effort to

normalize it; 3. People made in the image of God and loved by God caught in the

middle)

1. What God says About it

a. It is sin and abominable.

Lev 18:22

You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination

Abomination. Repugnant or detestable act, person, or thing. The idea of

abomination derives from the specific demands God’s holiness makes upon

his people. Adjectives frequently used for abominations in the OT are

“abhorrent,” “loathsome,” “unclean,” and “rejected (Baker Encyclopedia of

the Bible).

Other things in the Bible that are an Abomination

 defective sacrifices (Dt 17:1)

 magic and divination (Dt 18:12)

 idolatrous practices (2 Kgs 16:3)

 Meat of certain kinds of animals that was ritually defiling, whether

touched or eaten (Lev. 11:10–13).

 three-day-old sacrificial meat (Lev. 7:18).

 idolatrous objects of pagan origin (Jer. 4:1; 7:30

b. It’s Contrary to the laws of nature

Romans 1:18-32

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and

unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

19  because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has

shown it to them. 20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes

are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His

eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse… 24  Therefore

God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to

dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25  who exchanged the truth of God

for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator,

who is blessed forever. Amen. 26  For this reason God gave them up to vile

passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is

against nature. 27  Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the

woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing

what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error

which was due. 28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their

knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which

are not fitting; 29  being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,

wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit,

evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30  backbiters, haters of God, violent,

proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31  undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32  who,

knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things

are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who

practice them.

 There is a such thing as unrighteousness and ungodliness v.18

 The revelation of God is in every human v.19

 The revelation of God is so clear we are without excuse. v.20

 There is a such thing as uncleanness. v.24

 It’s possible to worship the Creature more than the creator. v.25

 There is a such thing as vile passions. v.26

 There is a natural use and a use that is against nature. v.26

 There is something that is considered shameful. v. 27.

 There is a form of sex that is immoral. v.29

Chromosomes

XX in the female and XY in the male.

The chromosomes, sexual organs and reproductive organs determine sex, not

feeling or desire

Ex. My height…

Ex. My skin color…

2. The image bearers

Gen 1:27

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male

and female created he them

Ex. Bruce’s Story

Ex. Ed Silvoso Story

Ex. Woman at the well with five Husbands

PROBLEM: It’s often a root of rejection that opens the door for homosexuality.

Many view anything other than wholesale acceptance as rejection of them.

To be against homosexuality does not mean you are against homosexuals

3. The Agenda

a. Everyone must embrace it

b. If you don’t you are bigoted, homophobic and mean

c. HR5 –

This bill destroys bathroom privacy. It would welcome both

genders into every bathroom in America.

It eliminates gender standards for religious K-12 schools and

daycare centers

It forbids counsellors from giving professional help to those

facing unwanted same-sex desires or actions

It criminalizes those who share their own story of finding

freedom in Christ from homosexuality in a book or speaking

engagement.

And there is NO RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION to this bill!

The 1964 Civil Rights Act outlawed state-sanctioned discrimination that

caused systematic economic and material harm to black Americans. The

Equality Act is different: It forces every American to agree with controversial

government-imposed ideology on sexuality or be treated as an outlaw. The

Equality Act demolishes existing civil rights and constitutional freedoms.

All single-sex spaces will be open to both sexes under the Equality Act. The

Equality Act adds sexual orientation and gender identity rules to Title III of

the Civil Rights Act on “public facilities” as well as to public accommodations

Ex. Man in girls sauna naked with legs open

V. MARRIAGE GUIDELINES

Heb 13:4

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and

adulterers God will judge

Ex. Use nature as a guideline… (Entrance and Exit)

Porn leads to lust and more marital dissatisfaction

Ex. Arranged Marriages

In the U.S., while the divorce rate hovers around 40 or 50 percent, the divorce

rate for arranged marriages is 4 percent. In India, where some estimate that

90 percent of marriages are arranged, the divorce rate is only 1 percent. Are

low divorce rates a sign that arranged marriages work?

VI. ADVICE FOR SINGLES

1. Marry a believer

2. Abstain from sex in the grace of God

1 Thess. 4:3

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from

sexual immorality

3. Get married if you can’t sustain yourself

Ex. Arranged Marriages

1 Cor 6:13

Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now

the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body

THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION | KEMI SEARCY

 THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION

Luke 24:1-7

Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they,  [a] and certain other

women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.  2  But

they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.  3  Then they went in and did not find the

body of the Lord Jesus.  4  And it happened, as they were  [b] greatly perplexed about this,

that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.  5  Then, as they were afraid and

bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among

the dead?  6  He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was

still in Galilee,  7  saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men,

and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”

1 Cor. 15:3-4

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our

sins according to the Scriptures,  4  and that He was buried, and that He rose again the

third day according to the Scriptures

I. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RESURRECTION

1. The Resurrection Is A Historic Fact That Proves Jesus Was No Ordinary

Prophet – It Differentiates Christianity from all Other Religion, And It’s Prophet

from all other prophets –

2. It’s the Anchor of our Christian Faith

I Co 15:14

If Christ Is not Risen then our preaching is empty, and your faith is also empty

Therefore My Father Loves Me Because I Lay Down My Life That I May Take It

Again, 18 No One Takes it From Me, But I Lay It Down Of My Self, I Have

Power To Lay It Down and I Have Power To Take It Again

Romans 8:11

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,

he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal

bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

III. WALKING IN THE RESURRECTION POWER

1. FAN THE FLAME --

2 Tim 1:5

When I call to remembrance the  [b] genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt

first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am

persuaded is in you also.  6  Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God

which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  7  For God has not given

us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2. Use What You Have

Heb 5:14

But solid food belongs to those who are  [a] of full age, that is, those who by

reason of  [b] use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

3. Get to Know Him

Phil 3:10

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship

of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

Phil 3:10 --

that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his

sufferings, becoming like him in his death, (ESV)

Psalm 36:5

Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches

beyond the clouds.

WHAT DOES THE RESURRECTION MEAN FOR ME? | KYLE SEARCY

WHAT DOES THE RESURRECTION MEAN FOR ME?

Luke 24:1-6

Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women

with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2  But they found the

stone rolled away from the tomb. 3  Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord

Jesus. 4  And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood

by them in shining garments. 5  Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth,

they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6  He is not here, but is risen!...

1. You Can trust Jesus

John 2:19-21

Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it

up.”… 21  But He was speaking of the temple of His body

John 10:17-18

“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18  No

one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have

power to take it again.

Ex. In relationships trust is earned

2. We have an Advocate in Jesus

Heb 7:25

Therefore, He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him,

since He always lives to make intercession for them.

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone

sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous

3. Shows the Acceptance of Jesus’ death for our sins

Rom 4:25

who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our

justification.

4. We will never experience death

John 11:25-26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he

may die, he shall live. 26  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you

believe this?”

5. Death Defeated

1 Cor 15:54-57

So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on

immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is

swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your

victory? 56  The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57  But thanks be to

God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

6. We will have glorified bodies

Phil 3:20-21

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord

Jesus Christ, 21  who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His

glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to

Himself.

1 John 3:2-3

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be,

but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He

is.

7. Hope

Job 19:25

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;

8. We have access to the Holy Spirit

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you

all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

9. We can live a victorious life

Rom 8:11

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised

Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who

dwells in you.

Eph 1:16-20

do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers… 20  which He

worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in

the heavenly places,

10. We will Rise

1 Cor 15:20

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have

fallen asleep.

11. Those Dead will Rise

1 Thess 4:13-14

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen

asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14  For if we believe that Jesus died

and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

12. All of Creation will be Redeemed

Rom 8:21

because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into

the glorious liberty of the children of God

13. Shows the superiority of the Christian Faith

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father

except through Me.
