Psalm 127:3-5

    Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: And the fruit of the womb is his reward.

    ⁴   As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; So are children of the youth.

    ⁵   Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, But they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

 

 

I.       WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT PARENTING

 

1.  We Should Teach Our Children The Word Of God.

Deut. 6:6-7

⁶ “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. ⁷ You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

 

2.  We Should Train Our Children (Leadership By Example).

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

 

3.  We Should ___________________________ For Our Children.

2 Cor. 12:14-15

¹⁴ Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

¹³Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

 

 

II. HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH REBELLIOUS KIDS?

        1 Samuel 15:23

²³     For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry….

3.  Try To Manage Negative Influences As Best As Possible.

1.    Realize It Will Take Time To Build Proper Rapport.

2.    Have The “You’re Not My Parent” Conversation.

3.    Discipline Along Biological Lines.

4.    Realize Kids Will Do Things Differently At Other Parents House (Cut Out Negative Comments But Enforce The Rules At Your House)

5.    Keep A _______________________ Front.

6.    Spend One-On-One Time With Each Child (Not Just Group Identity).
