THE JABEZ SHIFT

 

1 Chronicles 4:9-10

And Koz begot Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. ⁹ Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” ¹⁰ And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

 

I.               WE MUST FIRST SHIFT UPWARD (God of Israel)

1 Kings 18:45-46

1.     Spiritual Evil

2.     Natural Evil

2 Cor 1:9-11

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raises the dead: ¹⁰ Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.

 

3.     Self-Inflicted Evil

Eph 4:14-15

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.

 

VI.          WE BELIEVE FOR A NO GRIEF DIMENSION

 

Matthew 11:28-30
