Benefits of Gardening | Midweek | 3.1.23

Benefits of Gardening

1. Cut down on food cost.

2. You know what you are eating

3. Great exercise (especially for more mature people)

The Beginning Gardner (Getting Ready)

Making a Plan

Planning is a very necessary component of the gardening season. It is best to know ahead of

time what you want to grow, so you can plant at the right time and season and in the right

medium.

Find your growing zone. (You can Google it)

* Montgomery, Alabama is in USDA Hardiness Zones 8a and 8b.

Choosing What to Plant.

Plant what you will eat. Make sure that it will grow in your zone.

Your Spring Planting Strategy

Cole crops like broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage can be direct seeded into

your garden around January 29, assuming the ground can be worked, but it's

better to start them indoors around January 1 and then transplant them into

the garden around February 20. Do the same with lettuce and spinach.

Plant onion starts and potatoes around January 11. Sow the seeds

of peas (sugar snap and English) at the same time. If the ground is still

frozen, then plant these as soon as the ground thaws.

Do you want to grow tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants? Start these

indoors around January 1. Then, around March 7 you should start watching

the weather forecast and, as soon as no frost is forecast, go ahead and

transplant those into the ground.

Now, for all the summer vegetables like beans, cowpeas, corn, squashes,

pumpkins, cucumbers, watermelons, gourds and sunflowers, you should

plant those seeds directly into the ground around March 11, or if your soil is

still very cold, once the soil is near 60° F in temperature.

Select a place to grow

* Plant where your plants will get at least 6 to 8 hours of full sunlight. South facing is the best. If

you need help determining which way is south you can download the compass app on your

phone. You can also purchase a compass. Prices start at $00.89.

If possible, plant in a place where rodents, rabbits, deer, etc. have very little to no access.

Raised Beds, Pots, or In-ground

What you decide to use as your grow medium will determine where you grow

a. Pots containers like felt or other material

b. Raise beds on wheels or stationary

c. Home yard

d. Patio

e. Apartment balcony.

Pros and Cons of Raise Beds vs. In-ground gardens

https://youtu.be/aVmFR4iUVoY

Preparing the Beds

Raised

When raised beds are well prepared, the hardest part of gardening is done. And the better the

garden beds are prepared, the less work there will be during the growing season, and the more

likely your vision will come to fruition.

Work from outside the beds.

Basic ‘ground’ rule:

Don’t step on the soil within the raised beds.

Be sure you’re able to reach every part of the bed without having to stand in it. (Our raised

beds are 4’ across).

Inspect each raised bed for needed repairs.

The soil in raised beds gets wet and heavy over the winter, and the added weight can

exert pressure on the corners of the beds and can bow the center of long spans

outward. Now is the time to fix anything that needs attention, before you start sowing

seeds or transplanting seedlings, since any repair will disturb the soil.

Inexpensive way to fill raised beds

1. If your raised bed is more than 2 feet deep, use other organic matter on the bottom.

a. Logs or dead tree limbs

b. Leaves

c. Top soil

2. Use Potting soil or potting mix only for raised beds.

a. 18 to 24 inches of good soil will suffice.

Soil Preparation

Soil is the foundation for which plants grow. You can make your own organic gardening soil.

How to make cheap easy organic potting soil. 4 ingredients

1. Coco- Core.

One large brick hydrated in water makes a wheelbarrow full. Coco-Core holds 10 times

its weight and water. (4. Parts)

2.  Compost (2 parts)

You can make your own or you can buy it.

Kellogg brand organic compost, Black Cow, Mushroom compost, or homemade.

3. Warms Castings (1 part)

4. Organic Vermiculite (1 part)

https://youtu.be/S616y1FO5OY

Good fertilizer is important. Use organic only. Remember you are feeding the soil not the plant.

Irrigation and hydration is important if you're using beds or pots make sure they are off of the

ground so that they drain properly. You can use a pallet bricks.

Buying and Planting Seeds

You can plant from seeds follow the instructions on the package.  I only buy organic (*NO

GMOs*) there are several places that you can order from online or Lowe's, Home Depot,

Walmart, ACE Hardware, or local feed supply store.

If you use mulch in your garden please do not use wood chips or colored mulch.  This type of

mulch will deplete your soil of minerals that it needs.

Preparing the Beds (Raised)

When raised beds are well prepared, the hardest part of gardening is done. And the better the

garden beds are prepared, the less work there will be during the growing season, and the more

likely your vision will come to fruition.

Parable of The Sower | Bishop Kyle | 2.26.23

The Parable of the Sower

Mark 4: 1 - 20

And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that

he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and

devoured it up.

5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it

had no depth of earth:

6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth,

some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto

them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at

any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

14 The sower soweth the word.

15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan

cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word,

immediately receive it with gladness;

17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or

persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in,

choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring

forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan

cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Way side – Dry ground, Hard hearted, Closed off to receiving, No desire to understand

16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word,

immediately receive it with gladness;

17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or

persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

Affliction: that which causes or tends to cause bodily pain or mental distress

Affliction arises for the word’s sake.

Being offended causes withdrawal

18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in,

choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Neither riches nor poverty creates the heart of a person. They reveal the heart.

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring

forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Hear it…Embrace it…Cultivate and Work it

Parable of The Seeker | Pastor Trey | 2.19.23

The Parable Of The Seeker

I. The purpose of the parable

 Parables can illustrate spiritual principles through natural

situations

Matthew 13:34-35 34  All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in

parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them,  35  that it might be

fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “I will open My mouth in

parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”

Matthew 13:10-16 10  And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You

speak to them in parables?” 11  He answered and said to them, “Because it has

been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it

has not been given.  12  For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will

have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken

away from him.  13  Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do

not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.  14  And in them the

prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not

understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; 15  For the hearts of this

people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they

have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest

they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

6  But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;  17  for

assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see

what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

 This is an opportunity for God to prove people

Proverbs 25:2 2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of

kings is to search out a matter.

 Many things we claim to want will not be obtained if we

do not search them out

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all

your getting, get understanding.

 Get/Qanah (kaw-naw’) to buy, possess, acquire

 Acquisition requires searching

II. The Hidden Treasure

Matthew 13:44-46 44  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure

hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes

and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45  “Again, the kingdom of heaven

is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,  46  who, when he had found one

pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

 Treasure has intrinsic value

 This treasure is hidden, therefore it must be sought after

Jeremiah 29:10-14 10  For thus says the LORD: After seventy years are

completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward

you, and cause you to return to this place.  11  For I know the thoughts that

I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give

you a future and a hope.  12  Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to

Me, and I will listen to you.  13  And you will seek Me and find Me, when

you search for Me with all your heart.  14  I will be found by you, says

the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you

from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says

the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be

carried away captive.

 When it’s found, he hides it again

 He sells all that he has. (He puts himself in a position to

legally own what he has found)

 Job 42:5-6 5  “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now

my eye sees You. 6  Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and

ashes.”

 What are you bringing?

 Matthew 11:28-30 28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy

laden, and I will give you rest.  29  Take My yoke upon you and learn from

Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your

souls.

THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD: “PRAYER PARABLES” | Bishop Kyle Searcy | 9am

THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD

“PRAYER PARABLES”

Luke 11:1-13

1  Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His

disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

2  So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name Your

kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us

into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

5  And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to

him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;

6  for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;

7  and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my

children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?

8  I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his

persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

9  “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be

opened to you.

10  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be

opened.

11  If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a

fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?

12  Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your

heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

I. THE PRAYER PATTERN

1. Speak to a familial person “Our Father”

2. Acknowledge His rank “Heaven”

4. Declare - “Kingdom come” “Will be done”

5. Ask for needs “Daily Bread”

6. Forgiveness – “Others and Us”

THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD

THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD

Luke 8:4-15

4 And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He

spoke by a parable:

5  “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was

trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.

6  Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.

7  And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.

8  But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.” When He had

said these things He cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

9  Then His disciples asked Him, saying, “What does this parable mean?”

10  And He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to

the rest it is given in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not

understand.’

11  “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12  Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word

out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13  But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these

have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.

14  Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are

choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

15  But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble

and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

I. SOME THOUGHTS ON PARABLES

Luke 8:10

10 And He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of

God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, and

hearing they may not understand.’

1. Parables are interesting even when they are not understood

2. They contain great revelation for those who are open to kingdom principles

3. The soil of the heart is important when it comes to parables

4. Parables allow God to unlock truth to those who are hungry and close it to those

who are not

II. THE PARABLE ABOUT PARABLES

Luke 8:11-12

11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12  Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away

the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

1. You must pray the word in

2. You must act on the word

3. You must meditate on the word

4. You should teach the word

Luke 8:13

13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with

joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall

away.

1. The emotions with which you receive the word can be deceptive

2. Every word you receive will be tested

Psalm 105:17-19

17 He sent a man before them—Joseph—who was sold as a slave.

18 They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons.

19 Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him.

 Test must come or there will be no root system

1 Peter 1:7

7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold

that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and

glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ

 It is not just whether you receive the word but how long you hold on to it

 The danger of not keeping the word is that you will fall away (put away, retire,

depart)

Luke 8:14

14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out

and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity

 Subdue competing affections

 Even legitimate affections must be restrained

Luke 8:15

But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a

noble and good heart keep, it and bear fruit with patience.

 Maturity comes from a good heart and perseverance

 You must bear fruit with the word.

The Program

THE PROGRAM

Genesis 30:25-43

25 And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away,

that I may go to my own place and to my country.

26  Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go; for you know

my service which I have done for you.”

27  And Laban said to him, “Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by

experience that the LORD has blessed me for your sake.”

28  Then he said, “Name me your wages, and I will give it.”

29  So Jacob said to him, “You know how I have served you and how your livestock has been with

me.

30  For what you had before I came was little, and it has increased to a great amount; the LORD has

blessed you since my coming. And now, when shall I also provide for my own house?”

31  So he said, “What shall I give you?” And Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything. If you will

do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep your flocks:

32  Let me pass through all your flock today, removing from there all the speckled and spotted

sheep, and all the brown ones among the lambs, and the spotted and speckled among the

goats; and these shall be my wages.

33  So my righteousness will answer for me in time to come, when the subject of my wages

comes before you: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown

among the lambs, will be considered stolen, if it is with me.”

34  And Laban said, “Oh, that it were according to your word!”

35  So he removed that day the male goats that were speckled and spotted, all the female goats

that were speckled and spotted, every one that had some white in it, and all the brown ones

among the lambs, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

36  Then he put three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s

flocks.

37  Now Jacob took for himself rods of green poplar and of the almond and chestnut trees, peeled

white strips in them, and exposed the white which was in the rods.

38  And the rods which he had peeled, he set before the flocks in the gutters, in the watering

troughs where the flocks came to drink, so that they should conceive when they came to drink.

39  So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and

spotted.

40  Then Jacob separated the lambs, and made the flocks face toward the streaked and all the

brown in the flock of Laban; but he put his own flocks by themselves and did not put them with

Laban’s flock.

41  And it came to pass, whenever the stronger livestock conceived, that Jacob placed the rods

before the eyes of the livestock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.

42  But when the flocks were feeble, he did not put them in; so the feebler were Laban’s and the

stronger Jacob’s.

43  Thus the man became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks, female and male

servants, and camels and donkeys

KEYS TO RESET II

KEYS TO RESET II

Genesis 11:1-9

1 Now the whole earth had one language and one speech.

2  And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of

Shinar, and they dwelt there.

3  Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They

had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

4  And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens;

let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole

earth.” 5  But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

6  And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what

they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.

7  Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one

another’s speech.”

8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased

building the city.

9  Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the

earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth

Genesis 12:1-3

1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your

father’s house to a land that I will show you.

2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a

blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families

of the earth shall be blessed

STEPS TO RESET

 STEPS TO RESET

Gen 8:1-22

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in

the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. 2  The fountains

of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was

restrained. 3  And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and

fifty days the waters decreased. 4  Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth

day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. 5  And the waters decreased continually until the

tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were

seen.

6  So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark

which he had made. 7  Then he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters

had dried up from the earth. 8  He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had

receded from the face of the ground. 9  But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her

foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth.

So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself. 10  And he waited yet

another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark. 11  Then the dove came to him

in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that

the waters had receded from the earth. 12  So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the

dove, which did not return again to him anymore.

13  And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the

month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the

ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry. 14  And in the second month, on

the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

15  Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 16  “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons

and your sons’ wives with you… 20  Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean

animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21  And the LORD smelled

a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s

sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy

every living thing as I have done.

22 “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day

and night Shall not cease

Gen 9:1

So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth

Gen 9:20-21

 RESET

 Genesis 6:1-8

1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were

born to them,

2  that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for

themselves of all whom they chose.

3  And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his

days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”

4  There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in

to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of

old, men of renown.

5  Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of

the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6  And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

7  So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man

and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Genesis 6:13-15

13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with

violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14  Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside

with pitch.

15  And this is how you shall make it:

Genesis 7:7-12

7 So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of

the flood.

8  Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the

earth, 9  two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded

Noah. 10  And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth.

11  In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the

month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of

heaven were opened.

12  And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.

The Greatest Gift Pt. 3| Pastor Chris Searcy |12.18.22

The Greatest Gift Part 3

The Revelation of Jesus Christ

The Bible is enough! The Bible is enough!

Venture with me into Gods word to discover our glorious future in him.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ:

This book is the most beautiful book ever written in history because it is the revealing of the

most desirable man in the history of heaven and earth.

The darling of Heaven, The Just One, the King of Kings and Lord Of all Lords is being revealed

to us in this book.

We are in the series the greatest gift and so far we have discussed the foundation of the

biblical story, and the worthiness of Jesus.

Today is the pinnacle of that good news. Because not only do see Jesus revealed in all his

glory but we also learn of our fate in him.

For those that belong to him it is a great prophecy, but for those who reject his mercy, and love it

is a terrible day.

THE DAY OF THE LORD

The Day of the Lord refers to the unique events (positive and negative) that will escalate in the

final 3 1/2 years before Jesus returns. This biblical theme is mentioned nearly 100 times.

Joel 2:11:

11 For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; who can endure it?

Malachi. 4:5:

5 I will send you Elijah...before...the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

Broken into three time frames:

1. Beginning of birth pains (Mt. 24:4-8. —over a generation leading up to the final 7 years

2. Counterfeit world peace (increased labor pains)—the first 31⁄2 years of the final 7 years (1 Thes. 5:3)

3. The Great Tribulation (hard labor pains)—the last 31⁄2 years of the final 7 years (started by the

abomination of desolation.

Part 1:

It will be a great Day:

Great revival: The greatest revival and outpouring of the Spirit in history will occur in the end

times, resulting in a victorious Church filled with God’s glory (Mt. 16:18; Acts 2:17; Eph.

5:26-27; Rev. 15:2; 19:7). It will include miracles such as were seen in the book of Acts and the

book of Exodus, combined and multiplied on a global scale

Return of Jesus: The second coming of Jesus will be seen by every person on earth (Rev. 1:7).

Jesus will make a “royal procession” that will be seen over every inhabited place on earth.

7Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him.

And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. (Rev. 1:7)

Rapture: The rapture will occur as Jesus returns to “catches up” all believers in the air. It will

not be a secret event, but one witnessed by all (1 Thes. 4:13-5:11; Rev. 1:7).

Mathew 24:30

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of

the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power

and great glory.

Two witnesses: There will be two prophets who will preach with great power for 3(1] years

during the Great Tribulation (Rev. 11:3-6). They will do great miracles like Moses and Elijah did.

The 144,000: The Lord will anoint 144,000 Jewish believers (Rev. 7:4-8; 14:1-5) who will be

supernaturally sealed or protected by the power of God so that they cannot be harmed.

New Jerusalem: The Holy City will descend to the earth in two stages—at the beginning (Rev.

21:10) and at the end (Rev. 21:2) of the Millennium. The resurrected saints will live there.

2I, John, saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven... (Rev. 21:2)

Millennial Kingdom: Jesus will return to rule over all the earth for 1,000 years (Rev. 20:4-6). This

is often referred to as the millennial kingdom.

46 And I saw thrones...and they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years... they shall

be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. (Rev. 20:4-6)

God’s kingdom will be openly manifested worldwide, affecting every sphere of life

(political, agricultural, economic, educational, social institutions, etc.). Jesus will restore the

agriculture and animal life to the conditions seen in Eden.

This will be the first time that all the kings of the earth will be born again and will base their

national government on God’s Word.

Having made known to us the mystery of His will... that He might gather together in one all

things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth... (Eph. 1:9-10)

The New Jerusalem will come down in close proximity to the earth in context to Jesus’

second coming (Rev. 3:12; 21:2, 10). The saints will live in the New Jerusalem and rule on the

earth.

12The New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. (Rev. 3:12)

As saints resurrected and living rule with him things will continually improve.

7Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David

and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it...from that time forward, even forever. (Isa.

9:7)

The Salvation of Isreal: Israel will be the first nation in history in which every person will be

born again.

26And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written... (Romans. 11:26)

Jesus prophesied that He would not come back to the earth to rule from Jerusalem until the

governmental leaders of Israel ask Him to reign over them as their Messianic King (Mt. 22:39).

37“O Jerusalem...how often I wanted to gather your children...but you were not willing!

38 See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 for I say to you, you [Israel’s leaders] shall see Me

no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’” (Mt. 23:37-39)

Armageddon Campaign:

Jesus will return in context to a military conflict around Jerusalem. He will fight and win the

Battle of Jerusalem which ends the Armageddon Campaign (which lasts for 3(1] years).

2For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem... Then the LORD will go forth

and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. (Zech. 14:2-3)

Part 2:

It will be a terrible Day:

It will be a terrible Day for those who persist in rebellion against God (Rev. 6-20).

Jesus’ end-time judgments will shake all that can be shaken on earth

The Great Tribulation: will be the most difficult and the most important 3(1] years in history.

Matthew 24:21-22

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this

time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the

elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

God’s judgments are sent to remove everything that hinders love—they never contradict love.

They also create an optimum environment for His people to walk in love and purity. God uses

the least severe means to bring the greatest number of people to the deepest level of love.

There will be two severe waves of death—the first will claim one-fourth of earth’s population

(Rev. 6:8), the second an additional one-third (Rev. 9:15)—totaling 50%

of the earth’s population.

Isaiah prophesied that “few” would be left on earth (Isa. 24:6).

8 Power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with

death, and by the beasts of the earth. (Rev. 6:8)

15 The four angels...were released to kill one-third of mankind. (Rev. 9:15)

1 Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty... The curse has devoured the earth...

the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left. (Isa. 24:1-6)

Pressure in the Great Tribulation will come from various sources: from the wrath of God poured

out in “full strength” on the Antichrist (Rev. 14:10), from the rage of Satan persecuting God’s

people through the Antichrist’s reign of terror (Rev. 12:12), and from the actions of evil people

whose sinful deeds will reach their “fullness” (Dan. 8:23).

10The wrath of God which is poured out full strength... (Rev. 14:10)

12Woe to the inhabitants of the earth...for the devil has come down to you, having great wrath,

because he knows that he has a short time. (Rev. 12: 12)

23In the latter time...when the transgressors have reached their fullness... (Dan. 8:23)

The Antichrist: (Revelations 13:1-10) will wage war against Jesus and His people. He will be the

most powerful evil leader in history. Due to his ten-nation confederation, he will have the largest

army in history. He will use demonic miracles to deceive, political processes to kill those who

resist him, and economic oppression to control nations (2 Thes. 2:9; Rev. 13:14-17).

The False Prophet: (Rev. 13:11-18) will be the leader of a worldwide religious network devoted

to causing all the people on the earth to worship Satan and the Antichrist (Rev. 13:4, 8). He will

give speeches and perform miracles (Rev. 13:12-14) and will implement an economic system

using the image of the Beast and the mark of the Beast (coming in later points).

The 10-nation confederation: will be a political, military, and economic alliance of ten nations

that provides the Antichrist with the greatest power base of any man in history (Rev. 17:12-17).

The healing of the Antichrist’s head wound: will be the great catalytic event that thrusts the

Antichrist into worldwide prominence (Rev. 13:3, 12, 14). He and one of his nations will

seemingly be killed, then healed before all, causing them to be overwhelmed with awe and to

worship him (Rev. 13:4).

3I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed.

And all the world marveled and followed the beast. (Rev. 13:3)

The image of the Beast: will be a statue (idol) of the Antichrist that is demonically empowered

so that it will seem to think, talk, breathe, and make laws (Rev. 13:14-16). This image will be in

the Jerusalem temple. John emphasized it ten times (Rev. 13:14, 15 [3x]; 14:9, 11; 15:2; 16:2;

19:20; 20:4).

The mark of the Beast: (the Antichrist) will be a mark on people’s right hand or forehead. It will

be used to identify those who worship the Antichrist (Rev. 13:16-17) and will be required in

order to have access to the global economic system. Those who refuse this will not be able to

buy or sell. They will be viewed as criminals of the state who are guilty of the death penalty.

The abomination of desolation: occurs when the Antichrist declares himself to be God as he

sets his image in the temple (Dan. 11:31; 12:11; Mt. 24:15; 2 Thes. 2:3-4; Rev. 13:12-18).

Falling away: The end-time falling away will be one of the most tragic and serious realities in

human history. Many will fall away from the faith.

3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day [Jesus’ second coming] will not come

unless the falling away comes first and the man of sin [Antichrist] is revealed. (2 Thes. 2:3)

Three series of numbered judgments:

These 3 series of judgments will destroy Harlot Babylon (an evil government, and religion) and

the Antichrist’s empire.

These judgments are literal (actual events), in the future (not already fulfilled in history),

progressive (increasing in severity), and numbered (released in a sequential order).

7 Seals: The shaking of everything:

1. White horse:

He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering

and to conquer” (Revelation 6:2)

2. Red horse:

takes peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to

him a great sword” (Revelation 6:3, 4).

3. Black horse:

he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand” (Revelation 6:5, 6).

4. Pale horse:

And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with

death, and by the beasts of the earth.” (Revelation 6:7, 8).

5. Souls crying out from under the altar:

The saints and martyrs crying to the Lord for vengeance.

6. Earthquake, sun & moon, stars fall:

sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of

heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.

Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was

moved out of its place.Cosmic changes cause the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich

men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in

the caves and in the rocks of the mountains” (Revelation 6:12-15).

7. Silence in heaven:

“When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour”

(Revelation 8:1)

7 Trumpets: Judgments on the Antichrist’s empire

1. Hail and fire mixed with blood burn 1/3 of trees and grass. (Revelation 8:7)

2. Mountain of fire thrown into the sea 1/3 of sea creatures and ships destroyed. Revelation

8:8-9)

3. Star named wormwood falls on rivers and springs and turns 1/3 bitter. Many die from it.

(Revelation 8:10-11)

4. 1/3 of the sun, moon, and stars do not shine. (Revelation 8:12)

5. Locusts torment those who are not sealed by the Lord for 5 months, while death flees.

(Revelation 9:1-12)

6. 4 angels bound at the great river Euphrates are released to kill 1/3 of mankind. 200 million

man army forms. (Revelations 9:13-21)

7. The Kingdom of God is declared. Jesus comes at the sound of the last trumpet, and the

saints are caught up with him. (Revelation 11:15)

7. Bowls: The wrath of God

1. Sores come upon those who took the mark of the beast. (Revelation 16:2)

2. The seas turn to blood and every living thing in them dies. (Revelation 16:3)

3. Rivers and springs turn to blood. (Revelation 16:4)

4. The sun scorches people, they curse God. (Revelation 16:8)

5. The antichrists throne is covered in darkness those in it are tormented, yet they curse God.

(Revelation 16:10)

6. The Euphrates river dries up to prepare the way for war. (Revelation 16:12)

7. A loud voice cries from the throne of God “It is done!” The seventh bowl signifies the end of

the judgments. The earth experiences a super earthquake. Jerusalem will split into three

parts and the international cities will collapse. Mountains will disappear, and huge,

hundred-pound hailstones will fall.

Judgment seat of Christ

Christ will evaluate each heart and works in accordance with the teaching of scripture.

9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10For we

must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in

the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11Knowing, therefore, the terror

of the Lord, we persuade men…(2 Cor. 5:9-11)

New Heaven New Earth

Revelation 21:1-4

1. Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had

passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem,

coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

3. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among

the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with

them and be their God. 4. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more

death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Hope in the Resurrection

2 Corinthians. 5:1

…we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in

this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven.

Notes & Resources:

* The seven main symbols in the book of Revelation are in this parenthetical section:

A. The dragon: is always symbolic of Satan (Rev. 12:3, 4, 7, 9, 13, 16, 17; 13:2, 4; 16:13; 20:2)

B. The first Beast: is symbolic of the Antichrist (Rev. 13; 14:9-11; 17:3-17; 19:19-21; 20:4, 10)

C. Another Beast: is symbolic of the False Prophet who is only called, “another Beast” one

time. Every other time he is called the False Prophet (Rev. 13:11-17; 16:13; 19:20; 20:10).

D. The 7 heads: the seven empires that persecute Israel are Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia,

Greece, Rome, and the revived Roman Empire (Dan. 2:41-42; 7:7, 20, 24; Rev. 12:3; 13:1;

17:3-16).

E. The 10 horns: speaks of a future 10-nation confederation of ten kings who rule

simultaneously over their own nation while coming into enthusiastic agreement or

partnership together under the Antichrist’s authority (Dan. 2:41-42; 7:7, 20, 24; 11:36-45;

Rev. 12:3; 13:1; 17:3, 7, 12, 16)

F. The Harlot Babylon: includes the literal re-built city of Babylon on the Euphrates River in

Iraq (50 miles south of Baghdad) that will be restored and used as a headquarters for the

Antichrist. It will function as a center of worldwide demonic religious and economic

networks (Rev. 17-18; cf. Isa. 13-14; 21; Jer. 50-51), and will seduce many to sin while also

persecuting the saints.

G. The Woman with the Male-child (Jesus): The woman is the faithful remnant of Israel through

history (Rev. 12:1-5). Satan wars with her offspring who are Gentile believers (Rev. 12:17).

*John described seven scenes in Revelation 19:11-21:

Scene 1: Twelve aspects of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem are highlighted (19:11-16).
