I.
THE OLD TESTAMENT
IS OLD.
Ezekiel 36:24
24 For I will take you from among the
heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own
land. 25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye
shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I
cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and fa
new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of
your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause
you to iwalk in my statutes, and ye shall jkeep my
judgments, and do them.
Hebrews 8:8-13
8 For finding fault with them, he
saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: … 10 For
this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those
days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in
their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And
they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother,
saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For
I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their
iniquities will I remember no more. 13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old.
Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
II.
THE GLORY OF THE
NEW COVENANT IS CHRIST IN US.
1.
Christ in us is our hope.
Colossians 1:27
27 To whom God would make known what
is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ
in you, the hope of glory.
2.
He must be
in you for you to be His.
Romans
8:9
8 So then they that are in the flesh
cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the
Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not
the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
3. When Christ is in us the body is dead due to sin.
Romans
8:10
10 And if Christ be in you, the body
is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
4.
The Spirit
Gives Life to our Mortal Bodies.
Romans
8:11
11 But if the Spirit of him that
raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the
dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies xby his Spirit that
dwelleth in you.
5.
The fruit
of God is in us.
Galatians
5:22
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, klongsuffering, kgentleness, goodness,
faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
6.
His
Unlimited Power is in us.
Ephesians
3:20
20 Now unto him that is able to do
exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that worketh in us.
III.
WE ARE ALSO IN HIM.
Ephesians 1:4
4 According as he hath chosen us in
him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without
blame before him in love:
Philippians
3:8-9
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all
things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord:
for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung,
that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine
own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of
Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.
1.
All fullness dwells in Him.
Colossians 1:19
19 For it
pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.
2.
We are Rooted in Him.
Colossians 2:7
6 As ye have
therefore treceived Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted
and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught,
abounding therein with thanksgiving.
3.
We are Complete in Him.
Colossians 2:10
10 And ye are
complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.
4.
No Condemnation to those in Him.
Romans 8:1
There is
therefore now no condemnation to them, which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
CHRIST IN US STRENGTHENS AND EMPOWERS US – WE
IN CHRIST BECOMES OUR IDENTITY.
IV.
CHRIST IN US IS
SETTLED AS LONG AS WE REMAIN IN FAITH.
2 Corinthians 13:5
5 Examine
yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your
own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
V.
WE MUST CONSCIOUSLY
REMAIN IN CHRIST.
John 15:1-5
15 I am the
true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in
me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit,
he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are
clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in
me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in
the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the
vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same
bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
1 John 3:6
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth
not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
