WHAT IS THE GLORY

GLORY (kabod) – Comes from the word (kabed) which means 1 to be heavy, be weighty, be grievous, be hard, be rich, be honorable, be glorious, be burdensome, be honored.

The word means - glory, honor, glorious, abundance. abundance, riches. honor, splendor, glory

 

I.               THE MANIFESTATION OF GLORY

 

1.     Tangible Manifestation of the Presence of God

 

2.     God proclaiming His Own Name

 

3.     Heavenly Transformation

2 Cor 3:18

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord

 

4.     The Lord Fights for You in Glory

Psalm 24:7-10

Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. ⁸ Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. ⁹ Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. ¹⁰ Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.

 

5.     Divine Protection

Zech2:5

For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ”

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

Haggai 2:6-9

For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while,  And I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; ⁷ And I  will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: And I will fill this  house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts. ⁸ The silver is mine, and the gold is  mine, saith the Lord of hosts. ⁹ The glory of this latter house shall be greater  than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: And in this place will I give peace,  saith the Lord of hosts.

Phil 4:19

¹⁹ And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 

 

II.              THE BACKDROP OF GLORY

 

1.     Darkness

Isaiah 60:1-3

Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. ² For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. ³ The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.

 

      Matthew 4:16

The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.”

Also King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude… ¹⁰ And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, ¹¹ so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

 

3.     Holiness brings Glory

Exo 19:10-11

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow and let them wash their clothes. ¹¹ And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.

 

1 Samuel 4:19-21

Now his daughter-in-law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, due to be delivered; and when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and gave birth, for her labor pains came upon her. ²⁰ And about the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, “Do not fear, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer, nor did she regard it. ²¹ Then she named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!

 

4.     Reverence and Awe

 

2 Samuel 6:3-8

So they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. ⁴ And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, accompanying the ark of God; and Ahio went before the ark. ⁵ Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the Lord on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. ⁶ And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. ⁷ Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God. ⁸ And David became angry because of the Lord’s outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the place Perez Uzzah to this day.

 

HE WAS BORN KING

Matthew 2:1-12

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” 3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. 5 So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: 6 ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ” 7 Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men,

  

 determined from them what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.” 9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 12 Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.

who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

THE HEROD ATTACK

 

Herod was not the rightful king from the line of David. In fact he was not even a descendant of Jacob, but was descended from Esau and thus was an Edomite.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

WISE MEN SOUGHT HIM

 

·      Insecurity or lack of confidence Living for people’s expectation 

·      Settling

·      Fear

·      Premature death Distractions

·      They want to locate you so you must keep moving

·      They act as if they want to worship you but they want to kill you

WE NEED WISDOM

 

Wise Men - Went Another way - wisdom will guide you to your destiny

 

1.     Wisdom opens up a stream of revelation that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him- Eph 1:17

2.     Preserves you Prov 4:5-6

Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.

 

3.     Promotes You Prov 4:7-9

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. 9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.

 

4.     It helps you solve problems.

RESOURCES

 

Gifts were worth about 120 million USD in 2007 dollars

Their worship was heightened by the giving of gifts ... gold ... incense and ... myrrh. These were gifts worthy of a king and this act by Gentile leaders pictures the wealth of the nations which will someday be completely given to the Messiah (Isa. 60:5, 11; 61:6; 66:20; Zeph. 3:10; Hag. 2:7–8)

GOD’S PROTECTION

 

·      God’s Protection is sure

·      Jesus was hidden

SUFFICIENT V. Deliverance Through the Blood

 

Exo 12:7-13. 

And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it….¹² ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. ¹³ Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt

 

Zech 9:11

“As for you also, Because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.

 

I.               THE REALITY OF THE DEMONIC

1.     Angels and Fallen Angels

Rev 12:9

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him

 

2.     Jesus Spent 40% of His Ministry Dealing with the Demonic

Matthew 4:23-24

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. ²⁴ Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.

 

3.     We are to consider the demonic

James 4:7

Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

 

1 Pet 5:8-9

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. ⁹ Resist him, steadfast in the faith.

 

II.              SOME PROBLEMS HAVE A DEMONIC ORIGIN

1.     Woman in the Temple

Luke 13:10-16

Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. ¹¹ And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. ¹² But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” ¹³ And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. ¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore, come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” ¹⁵ The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath lose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? ¹⁶ So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?”

 

2.     Blind and Mute Man

Matthew 12:22  

Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw

 

3.     Mute Man

Luke 11:14

And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

 

Acts 19:11-12

Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, ¹² so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. 

 

First case it may be purely physical 

 

Second case the demonic power is the life force behind the issue  

 

Third There is actually a demon that is creating the issue

 

III.            JESUS DEFEATED SATAN ON THE CROSS

Heb 2:14

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil

 

Col 1:13

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, ¹⁴ in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

 

Col 2:15

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

 

1 John 3:8

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

 

Rev 12:11

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

 

Luke 10:17-19

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” ¹⁸ And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

 

IV.            HOW THE BLOOD WORKS OVER THE DEMONIC

1.     The spirit realm is legal

Eph 6:12-13

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

 

Dan 10:13

But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

 

2.     Legal ground is needed for Satan to attack

Job 1:6-11

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. ⁷ And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” ⁸ Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” ⁹ So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? ¹⁰ Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. ¹¹ But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”

                        Luke 22:31-32

And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

 

3.     Open doors can provide legal ground

 

V.             HOW THE BLOOD WORKS OVER THE DEMONIC

1.     It is how Jesus defeated Satan

Col 1:13

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, ¹⁴ in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

 

Rev 12:11

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

 

2.     As a Priest you have power to apply the blood

Rev 1:5-6

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, ⁶ and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen

 

3.     The Blood Delivers

Exo 12:7-13

And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it….¹² ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. ¹³ Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt
