1. Psalm 2. THE REIGNING KING

Psalm 2:1-12

Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, ³ “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.” ⁴ He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision ⁵Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: ⁶ “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”  ⁷ “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. ⁸ Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. ⁹ You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ” ¹⁰ Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. ¹¹ Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling. ¹² Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

2. Psalm 16. Resurrection Psalm

Psalm 16:1-11

¹Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. ² O my soul, you have said to the Lord,

“You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” ³ As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” ⁴ Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips. ⁵ O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. ⁶ The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. ⁷ I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;

My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. ⁸I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. ⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. ¹⁰For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.¹¹ You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

3. Psalm 22 The Suffering Savior

Psalm 22:1-22

¹ My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning? ² O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent. ³ But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. ⁴ Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. ⁵ They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed. ⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. ⁷ All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸ “He  ³trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!” ⁹ But You are He who took Me out of the womb; You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts. ¹⁰ I was cast upon You from birth. From My mother’s womb You have been My God. ¹¹ Be not far from Me, For trouble is near; For there is none to help. ¹² Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. ¹³ They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion. ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death. ¹⁶ For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet; ¹⁷ I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me. ¹⁸ They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots. ¹⁹ But You, O Lord, do not be far from Me; O My Strength, hasten to help Me! ²⁰ Deliver Me from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog. ²¹ Save Me from the lion’s mouth And from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered Me.²² I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.

4. Psalm 23 The Shepherd

Psalm 23:1-6

¹ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

² He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

³ He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

⁵ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Forever.

5. Psalm 24  The Ascension

Psalm 24:1-10

The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.

2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.

6. Psalm 34.  The Perfect Sacrificial Lamb

Psalm 34:19-22

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

²⁰ He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. ²¹ Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. ²² The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.

Exodus 12:46

“In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, nor shall you break one of its bones.”

Numbers 9:12

“They shall leave none of it until morning, nor break one of its bones. According to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it.”

John 19:36

³⁶ For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.

 

7. Psalm 45. JESUS THE GOD MAN

Psalm 45:1-7

¹ My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. ² You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever. ³ Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, With Your glory and Your majesty. ⁴ And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things. ⁵ Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies; The peoples fall under You. ⁶ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. ⁷ You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

 

Hebrews 1:6-9

⁶ But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.” ⁷ And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits

And His ministers a flame of fire.” ⁸ But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. ⁹ You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You

With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

8. Psalm 72 THE RIGHTEOUS REIGNING KING

Psalm 72:1-9

¹ Give the king Your judgments, O God, And Your righteousness to the king’s Son. ² He will judge Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with justice. ³ The mountains will bring peace to the people, And the little hills, by righteousness. ⁴ He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor. ⁵ They shall fear You As long as the sun and moon endure, Throughout all generations. ⁶ He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth. ⁷ In His days the righteous shall flourish, And abundance of peace, Until the moon is no more. ⁸ He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth. ⁹ Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before Him, And His enemies will lick the dust.

9. Psalm 110. THE VICTORIOUS GOD MAN

Psalm 110:4

The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.² The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! ³ Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. ⁴ The Lord has sworn And will not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

 

Matthew 22:41-44

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, ⁴² saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.” ⁴³ He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying: ⁴⁴ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool” ’? ⁴⁵ If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?” ⁴⁶ And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.

10. Psalm 118. THE REJECTED STONE

Psalm 118:22-24

²The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.

²³ This was the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. ²⁴This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
