Judge Jesus | Pastor Trey Townsley| 3.15.26

  • One of the most commonly quoted scriptures by non-believers??
  • Matthew 7:1 “Judge not, that you be not judged.”
  • “Only God can judge me!”
  • James 4:12 “There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?”
  • The nature of humans is to desire justice {No justice, No peace}
  • Immigrants being deported and separated from family
  • 2 black men found hanging on trees in Mississippi
  • Explicit sexual misconduct being celebrated at the highest levels of government
  • We require someone who will work righteously and bring reconciliation
  • Revelation 6:10 “And they cried with a loud voice, saying, ‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’”
  • Jesus is the righteous Judge
  • 2 Timothy 4:8 “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
  • Justice is required for goodness
  • Luke 18:1-8 “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ” Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
  • The irony in this is when we say “His judgment is unfair”
  • The Greek word for ‘Justice’ is dikaiosuné and is often translated as the word ‘righteousness’
  • All judgment has been committed to Jesus
  • John 5:22 “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son”
  • God will judge the world in righteousness by Jesus
  • Acts 17:30-31 30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
  • Every person will appear before the judgment seat of Christ
  • 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
  • Justice as a noun has multiple applications: The process or result of using laws to fairly judge cases, redress wrongs, and punish crimes. – The role of the courts is to dispense justice to everyone
  • The quality of being just, impartial, or fair. – They did not question the justice of his decision
  • A judge of an appellate court or court of last resort (as a supreme court). – A supreme court justice will be appointed today
  • The justice of Jesus is so complete that even evil men will bow before him and swear that He is just
  • Philippians 2:10-11 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
  • Isaiah 45:6-24 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness,
    I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.’ “Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together. I, the Lord, have created it. “Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?
    10 Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’
    Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’ ” 11 Thus says the Lord, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: “Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me. 12 I have made the earth, And created man on it. I—My hands—stretched out the heavens, And all their host I have commanded. 13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways; He shall build My city and let My exiles go free, not for price nor reward,” says the Lord of hosts. 14 Thus says the Lord: “The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you, and they shall be yours;
    They shall walk behind you, they shall come over in chains; and they shall bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, ‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other; there is no other God.’ ” 15 Truly You are God, who hide Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior! 16 They shall be ashamed and also disgraced, all of them; they shall go in confusion together, who are makers of idols. 17 But Israel shall be saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation; you shall not be ashamed or disgraced forever and ever. 18 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it, who has established it, who did not create it in vain,
    who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other. 19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth;
    I did not say to the seed of Jacob, ‘Seek Me in vain’; I, the Lord, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. 20 “Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations. They have no knowledge, who carry the wood of their carved image, and pray to a god that cannot save. 21 Tell and bring forth your case; yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me. 22 “Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. 23 I have sworn by Myself; the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.
    24 He shall say, ‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength. To Him men shall come, and all shall be ashamed who are incensed against Him.
