The Image of His Son, pt 2 | Pastor Tre Townsley | 3.22.26

  • Genesis 1:26 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness
  • Colossians 1:15 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation
  • Romans 8:28-29 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…
  • 2 Corinthians 3:18 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
  • Matthew 3:16-17 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
  • When the morning sun hits your skin and eyes it sends a signal to reset your internal clock (circadian rhythm)
  • When the C.R. is right, cortisol production is highest in the morning, preparing us to deal with the stress of the day
  • Morning sun increases serotonin production which boosts mood and mental clarity
  • Morning sun produces Vitamin D to control inflammation (a major contributor of many diseases in the body), strengthens bones, and increases immune response
  • Sunlight kills bad bacteria
  • When C.R. is off, cortisol patterns are erratic, which produces poor detoxification of the body
  • Low serotonin levels are linked to depression and digestion disorders
  • About 10% of Alaskans experience Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) during the polar night with symptoms of low energy, depression, anxiety, and a higher prevalence of suicide and mental health issues during winter
  • The beneficial aspects of the morning sun can’t be bottled and sold at Walmart
  • Many have tried to capture or mimic the effects, but continue to come up short
  • The only way to get the full benefit of what the sun offers is to get up every morning and bask in the sun
  • John 15:1-5 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
  • Just as the moon gives light based on its position relative to the sun, our perpetual position to the Son determines what we reflect on earth
