COURAGE IV.
HE IS WITH ME
Deuteronomy 31:1-6 (ESV)
"1 So Moses continued to speak these words to all Israel. 2
And he said to them, "I am 120 years old today. I am no longer able to go
out and come in. The LORD has said to me, 'You shall not go over this Jordan.' 3
The LORD your God himself will go over before you. He will destroy these
nations before you, so that you shall dispossess them, and Joshua
will go over at your head, as the LORD has spoken. 4 And the LORD will do
to them as he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their
land, when he destroyed them. 5 And the LORD will give them over to you,
and you shall do to them according to the whole commandment that I have
commanded you. 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of
them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you
or forsake you."
I. COURAGEOUS PEOPLE KNOW
- You Must Know Whose & Who You are
a) Made like God and in His
image. Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after
our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and
over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and
over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
b) You were created in
authority and with authority
c) You were created in
victory over then power of the enemy
d) You were created with
victory in mind. Never defeat. Everything will work for your good (Ro.8:28).
You were born to win
You are already victorious
II. TAKE COURAGE TO FULFILL GOD'S
WORD
2Peter 1:3 His divine
power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through
the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
- Life situations can cause us to forget whose we are
Gideon judged his condition by his
situation
Judges 6:12 And the
angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O
mighty man of valor. 13 And Gideon said to him, “Please, my lord, if the LORD
is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his
wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, ‘Did not the LORD
bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and given us into the
hand of Midian.”
2. What you are afraid of
is afraid of you
Goliath threatened Israel because he was afraid
of the covenant children.
David walked in courage because he realized
whose he was
1 Sam 17:26 And David
said to the men who stood by him, “What shall be done for the man who kills
this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this
uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
In time of trouble ask yourself two questions:
1.
Who Is With Me?
2.
What is His promise for
me?
God Promise of Restoration
Joel 2:25 I will restore
to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer,
and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.26 You shall eat in
plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, who has
dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.
