Purpose-Pastor Ray Cottrell

The Power of Purpose
I.                 Do It On Purpose.
-         Whatever you are doing, do it on purpose.
Purpose:
: the reason why something is done or used.
: the feeling of being determined to do or achieve something
: by intent: intentionally, goal, design, end, objective, dream
: Hebrew (Yass) (boule) The verbal root means to give counsel, deliberate, determine. His purpose is consistently related to what he does in the world.

It was God's set purpose and foreknowledge that Jesus was handed over to death at the hands of wicked people (Acts 2:23).

Isaiah 14:26,27
26 This is the plan (purpose) determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all the nations. 27 For the Lord almighty has purposed, and who can thwart Him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back.

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.

Romans 9 :17
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all thee earth.
2 Corinthians 1:17
Was I fickle when I intended to do this? Or do I make my plans in worldly manner so that in the same breath I say both "Yes, yes" and "No, no"?

II Based on the word of God, everything we do should be done on purpose.
1. Our worship and praise should be on purpose.
2. Living life to it's fullest should be done on purpose.
3. How we eat should be done on purpose.
4. Proper planning should be on purpose.
5. How we spend money should be on purpose.
-when we fail to worship God, we fail to worship on purpose.
-when we are late for work, we are late on purpose.
       6. we can purpose to fail as well as succeed.

Whatever you do in life that is counterproductive, it is counterproductive to the original intent of the purpose of God for your life.

        7. Being purposed to obey God's will cause's God's blessings to be realized in Our everyday lives.
-God will prospers what he purpose.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
3 John 1:2 KJV

       8. When Christ is deeply rooted in our hearts, we began to
understand our purpose.

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;”
Hebrews 5:8-9 KJV

         9. Suffering for Christ is purpose, in that we can be used as a
witness to the source of eternal salvation.

II  Purpose must be practiced every day.
          1. As Christians we start with a daily devotion before the Lord.
-daily devotion gives us the insight and wisdom that is needed for each hour we occupy in this world.
-a purposed time before God aligns us with his will, and a open door to his revelation.
-when we practice purpose before God, we also practice living out the will of God in the earth. (employment, finances, a husband, a wife).

IV The most effective people in the world are those who do things on purpose.
1.    God will reward you based on you fulfilling what you are presently
doing, if it's according to his purpose.
           2. True leaders are those who do purpose on purpose.

V.      How do I practice purpose.
          1. Start with time before God each day.
2.    Learn to be obedient to God's word for your life, even when
 doesn't seem to make sense.
            3. Determine to know his will above your will.
-purpose is our intent - (purpose is in us).
-purpose is our will - (thy will be done).
-purpose is our calling - (we are called according to his purpose).
