THE HELPER

THE HELPER

John 14:16-17
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans (Comfortless); I will come to you.

SEVEN WAYS TO ACTIVATE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR LIFE

1.      Know Your Identity
1 Cor 3:16
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

                        1 Cor 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2.      Know the Spirit’s Ability
Eph 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

1 John 4:4
“…greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

3.      Get Full
Eph 5:18
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

4.      Rest in His Spirit’s Emotions
Gal 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.

5.      Tap Into the Spirit’s Information
1 Cor 2:16
For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

6.      Make Him Comfortable

a.      Don’t Grieve
Eph 4:30
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Eph 4:25-29
Therefore, putting away lying, Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. 26 Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil. 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

b.      Don’t Quench
1 Thess. 5:19
Do not quench the Spirit….

7.      Do Life With Him
2 Cor 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen

DON’T DRAW BACK YOUR HAND

DON’T DRAW BACK YOUR HAND

Gen 38:27-30
And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb. 28 And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first. 29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez. 30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.

I.                    A NEW YEAR IS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW CYCLE

1.      During a new cycle forces beyond our control make breakthrough possible
·         Rotation of the earth around sun causing seasons
·         Ex. Growing of certain crops
·         Ex. Potty Training
·         Ex. Puberty
·         Ex. Childbirth contractions

2.      These times are characterized by difficulty

Don’t draw back your hand

·         Scarlet – sign of power, prosperity, royalty (scarlet and purple
·         The comfort of the old Season

II.                 PRINCIPLES FOR BREAKTHROUGH

1.      Refocus on Destiny

S – Spiritual Gifts
H – Heart Inclinations
A - Attitudes
P - Personality
E – Experiences

2.      Develop a plan

a.       Decide what you are going to do
b.      Determine how you will do it
c.       Pick who is needed to help you
d.      Get Moving (when)

3.      Bury Regret

Phil 3:13-14
I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. 14 I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.

Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves - regret for the past and fear of the future.    - Fulton Oursler

4.      Change your Name

Character produces names and names form character

a.       Wrestle with yourself
Gen 32:28
And He said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob [supplanter], but Israel [contender with God]; for you have contended and have power with God and with men and have prevailed

b.      Wrestle with God until He changes you

5.      Stay Optimistic
Matthew 9:23
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

6.      Keep Moving
James 2:17
So then faith that doesn’t involve action is phony

I NEED A LITTLE MORE GRACE LORD

I NEED A LITTLE MORE GRACE LORD

2 Cor. 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
I. ENABLING GRACE
1 Tim 1:12
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.
2 Cor 12:7-9
And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

II. SUSTAINING GRACE
Psalm 55:22
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved

Psalm 16:8
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved

Isaiah 40:31
31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

III. RESTRAINING GRACE
Gen 20:3-6
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.”
But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.” And God said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.
IV. GREAT GRACE
Acts 4:32-33
32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
V. EMERGENCY GRACE
Heb 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

THE THREE CHEERS OF JESUS

THE THREE CHEERS OF JESUS

Your emotional state goes a long way in determining what you accomplish in life.
We all know when you’re down- you don’t get much done.
We Can Choose Our Emotional State.
Nothing can really make us get down. Every time we allow ourselves to really get down, we waste things:  time, energy, testimony, tears, etc.  That’s why God is cheering for us.
Jesus is cheering for us that we will make the right choice and choose joy.  For a person to experience joy, there is usually a reason; Jesus give us 3 reasons to be of cheer:

1. Be of Good Cheer your sins are forgiven you
Matthew 9:1-2
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

• Sin separates us from God
Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

• Sin disqualifies us from Heaven
2 Cor. 5:21
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him

• Weighs us down
Heb 12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us

• Sin lies to you
True good cheer is only found in forgiveness of sin not pills, fame, partying, money or other material things.

2. Be of Good Cheer, It is I, Do not be Afraid
Matt. 14:23-27
23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. 24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

3. Be of Good Cheer I have Overcome the World
Jn. 16:33
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

a. Be of good cheer even in midst of tribulation- he is in us and he has overcome
b. Tribulation, if you let it, can steal your cheer and peace

God Is Cheering For Us
1. Sins Forgiven
2. We Have Him
3. He Overcame the World

With all that we can stay of good cheer.
