Next Level Emotions-Part I

I.                   GOD WANTS US ON OUR NEXT LEVEL.
Ephesians 4 is next Level Chapter
1.    Walk Worthy of the Vocation wherewith you were called. v.1
2.    Every one given grace according to measure of Gift of Christ.  v.7
3.    Christ went up on high to give us gifts. v.8
4.    He gave Office Gifts for perfecting the saints. v.12
5.    Unto the measure of stature of the fullness of Christ. v.13
6.    Unto rootedness no more tossed to and fro. v.14
7.    Walk not as others walk. v.17.
8.    Be renewed in the Spirit of your mind. v.23

II.                IMPORTANCE OF EMOTIONS.
1.    Trichotomy of Man.  1 Thessalonians 5:23
Spirit God Consciousness
Body World Consciousness
Soul (Emotions) Bridge the two
a.    Our Brains are made to prioritize emotions.
b.    Electrical Signals enter your brain at the base near the spinal cord, but must travel to your frontal lobe (behind your forehead) before reaching the place where rational, logical thinking takes place.
c.     They pass the limbic system before reaching the frontal lobe. (Place where emotions are produced)
d.    You experience things emotionally before reasoning joins in. (you feel before you comprehend)
e.    The rational brain can’t stop the limbic system but they work together.
f.     We must learn to recognize emotions in us and others and use them to manage our behavior.
2.    Believers have been taught to neglect emotions
3.    Satan seeks to exploit and damage the soul hindering God’s plan for your life.  
4.    Jesus came to bring Rest unto our souls.

Matthew 11:28
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

III.             NEXT LEVEL EMOTIONS.
Ephesians 4:25-32
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good fto the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And igrieve not kthe holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and pevil speaking, be put away from you, with all qmalice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, tforgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
1.    Authenticity – “Put away lying” “speak truth”
a.    Being able to face and deal with reality.
b.    Being more concerned about what’s real that what people think is real
c.     We lie to cover up shame, falsehood…not to look bad.
d.    Doesn’t reject wisdom. We are to be wise in when, how and even if to share.
e.    Doesn’t mean you can’t be flexible to serve others.
1 Corinthians 9:19-22 

2.    Controlled Anger
Ephesians 4:26
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil.
                    Ecclesiastes 7:9
Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry: for anger rests in the bosom of fools     

Proverbs 16:32
32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
Proverbs 19:11
          The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; And it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

                   a.    Resolve the issue when/if you can.
                   b.    Forget it when you can’t.
                   c.     Use scripture when you are weak.

Wrath gives place to the Devil…

Neither give place to the devil (μηδε διδοτε τοπον τ διαβολ [mēde didote topon tōi diabolōi]). Present active imperative in prohibition, either stop doing it or do not have the habit. See Rom. 12:19 for this idiom.

3.    Personal Responsibility.- (Stealing is trying to get something without paying the price.)
         Entitlement Mentality.
         Mindset that you deserve more than you earn.
         Blame Game.

4.    Clean Speech issuing from a Clean Heart (saprós); to rot. Bad, rotten, putrid.
Luke 6:45
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the a bundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

                   Communication that tears down.
                   Communication that’s Revengeful.
                   Communication that’s meant to cut.

lupéō; contracted lup, fut. lupsō, from lúpē (3077), sorrow. Trans. to grieve, afflict with sorrow

IV.            HOW TO DEVELOP NEXT LEVEL EMOTIONS?
1.    Awareness they are hindering you.
2.    Ask God to help you and heal you.
3.    Acknowledge your faults to those close to you and ask for prayer.
 James 5:16
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual yfervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

4.    Ask God to show you WHY you react this way.
5.    Learn and rehearse scripture contrary to negative emotions.
Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3        He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

6.    Stay in Faith.
