The Power of Internal Confession/Wise People Talk To Themselves Min. John Howard Jr.

Message: The Power of Internal Confession/Wise People Talk To Themselves

Min. John Howard Jr.

This timeless narrative is given in Matthew, Mark and Luke;

*Luke tells what she did.

*Mark tells us that she said something.

*Matthew tells us that she said something but gives complete transparency by telling us who

she said it to.

The biggest problem is that we are talking to too many people about what we should be

speaking to ourselves about.

*Sometimes internal conversations must be between you, yourself & God.

-Joseph shared his dream with his brothers and suffered because of it.  Let the dream or

vision come to past and be satisfied with people learning about it after it happens.

Self-application qualifies you to advise others. If it is not working for you, why should I believe

what you say will work for me?

Spoke to doctors for 12 years and got nowhere…

The pandemic gave us all an opportunity to develop the capacity and the art of talking to

yourself.  Isolation can serve as the best platform for great conversation with yourself.

Everyone spoke to her based on what they saw (pronounced unclean due to the issue of

blood for 12 years), she spoke based on what she knew by faith.

*She is pronounced unclean by the culture of that time, but she spoke against the culture based

on faith!! Culture must bow down to faith in God!

Romans 4:16- 20 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise

might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of

the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father

of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and

calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope,

that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall

thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when

he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He

staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to

God;

 Sometimes it is not only about talking to God about our issue, but also about talking to

ourselves about our issue from God’s perspective.

David encouraged HIMSELF in the Lord!

1 Samuel 30:6 6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because

the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David

encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

Remember that when you talk to yourself, God is still in on the conversation, by default!! He

sees, hears, and knows everything!!

Psalms 139: 1-3 1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and

when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying

down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it

completely.

Talking to yourself can be beneficial, but depending on yourself can be dangerous.

-Jeremiah 17:5 5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh

his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

Dependency must remain on God.

-2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but

our sufficiency (meaning: ability/power) is of God;

-Psalms 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

-Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own

understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Before you talk to yourself, make sure your heart posture before God is healthy

-Jeremiah 17:9 AMP 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things And it is extremely sick;

Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives? 10 “I, the Lord, search and examine

the mind, I test the heart, to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of

his deeds.

-Luke 6:45 Out of the abundance of the HEART the mouth speaketh

-Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Before the woman spoke, she knew that after 12 years and spending all she had on doctors

(Luke 8:43); she could only depend on God.

Acts 17:28 For in HIM we LIVE, MOVE & HAVE OUR BEING

Live: To master/behave/conduct yourself

Move: I stir, I excite

Have Our Being: Exist

God responds to our faith, not necessarily because of our prayers or needs.

-Matthew 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

*She did not pray to God, but she was able to TOUCH Jesus based on what she said to herself

about Jesus!! Her FAITH was stirred up and activated based on what she said to herself. God

identified with it and responded accordingly.

-Matthew 9: 28-29 28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and

Jesus saith unto them, believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29

Then touched he their eyes, saying, according to your faith be it unto you.

-Psalms 139:4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

* God heard the woman even though she wasn’t talking to him. God hears every word even

when we’re not speaking to him directly.

-Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat

the fruit thereof.

*The woman’s internal and silent confession/declaration still created a sound/frequency that

connected with God. Silent words and thoughts still create sound/frequency based on the

motive and heart behind them.

-Proverbs 23:7 7 For as he thinketh in his heart (Mind), so is he

*Align your thoughts with the mind of God, so that you will live out the destiny HE has for you

Talk to yourself, say what God says about you to yourself

-Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and

making melody in your heart to the Lord;

-Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the

Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

-Deuteronomy 28:3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.

Affirmation (Learn to affirm yourself based on who God is in your life!)

-Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

-1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because

the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David

encouraged himself in the Lord...

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he

hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
