5 “OF’S” of GOD

5 “OF’S” of GOD

Jeremiah 9:23-24

23 “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let

the rich man glory in his riches;

24 But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD,

exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says

the LORD.

I. THE HEART OF GOD

Jeremiah 9:24

24 But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, That I am

the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.

Exodus 34:5-7

5 Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the

name of the LORD.

6  And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful

and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,

7  keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no

means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and

the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.

1 John 4:8

8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love (Agape)

Agape Love

 Agape is eternal it cannot fail, and it does not depend on the object of its

favor. Agape does not depend on attraction, desire, or value.

 Agape does not even require any reciprocal love. It is constant it does not

fluctuate according to emotional highs or lows, loves when loved.

 Agape can love while being hated.

 Agape is a love which does not wait to be acted upon, because it is active.

It is living love, and active love.

 Agape acts first and draws the object to action.

 Agape is the love by which God loves us, but it is also the love He wishes

to impart to us that we might love Him and others.

II. THE WAYS OF GOD

Isaiah 55:8-9

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.

9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your

ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Psalm 77:19

19 Your way was in the sea, your path in the great waters, And Your footsteps were

not known

Test

Deuteronomy 8:2-5

2 And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty

years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your

heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

3  So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did

not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall

not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth

of the LORD.

4  Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years.

5  You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God

chastens you

III. THE TIMING OF GOD

Ecclesiastes 3:1-14

1 To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is

planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a

time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to gain, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to throw away;

7 A time to tear, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.

9  What profit has the worker from that in which he labors?

10  I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied.

11  He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their

hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to

end.

12  I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives,

13  and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it

is the gift of God.

14 I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and

nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.
