Re-introduction to the Gospel | Pastor Chris Searcy

Re-introduction to the Gospel

Two Goals:

1. Introduce those to the gospel that may have never heard it fully explained.

2. Arm believers with a proper explanation / defense of the Gospel.

We have a command to go and proclaim the gospel.

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:16-20

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed

them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came

and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore

and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And

behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

“In today’s climate a re-introduction to the Gospel is needed.” -Chris Searcy

Here’s why a re-introduction is so important:

1. Many profess to be followers of Christ but aren’t.

2. Our world is seeking to define good independent of God.

1. Many are false Claiming

1. Makes it harder to preach the gospel to them.

2. Gives a false sense of salvation.

2. The world has established good without God

1. Culture is trying to change what good is.

1. Thou shall not steal..... “but looting is ok.”

2. Thou shall not covet.... “but they shouldn’t be flexing like that.”

3. Thou shall have no other God’s before me... “I’m into spirituality."

4. Fornicators shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven... “God knows your heart.”

5. Adulterers shall not enter the kingdom of heaven... “I was just so alone.”

6. Homosexuals shall not enter the kingdom of heaven... “Love is love.”

7. Drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of heaven... “Turn up!!! Drive the boat.”

Ten Commandments & 1Corinthians 6:10

Here is what their fate is:

Isaiah 5:20, 24-25

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for

darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root

shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the

law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

25 Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his

hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were

torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is

stretched out still.

The plan of the enemy is to pervert the mind so that the way of iniquity seems right to man. It’s

the same perversion he used in the garden of Eden.

How the enemy does it:

He Change who defines good.

1. He convinces culture to move the standard of truth and moral law from something

central like the Gospel, to the fringes of society.

2. Consequently, the parameters of good are ever widening to accept whoever is at

the fringe of the social norm.

Yet, despite their best attempts, here lies the gospel! The unchanging standard of truth.

The Gospel Message!

Here is what people must understand about themselves before they can fully comprehend the

gospel:

That as a result of birth you were stewed in iniquity because of Adam, and shortly after your

birth you followed in his footsteps by committing your own sin.

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it?”

Unless we are convinced of that. Unless we are aware of our impending doom......

the gospel to man is useless.

If people are unaware of this fact then they will invariably think that by some function of their

own strength they can make themselves a “good person.”

So when teaching /sharing the gospel.

The most fundamental building block is not what God can give you or how he can bless you,

its that he is the only one who can save us from the eternal penalty of our sin.

BUT HERES THE SWEETENER!!!!!

Revelations 12:11 (Jesus binds the devil and casts him out)

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

and they loved not their lives unto the death.
