God Of The Ordinary | Pastor Chris | 3.30.25

God Of The Ordinary

How God has moved through seemingly ordinary ways to do global-scale Kingdom

change.

1. Abraham Being Chosen

Genesis 12:1–3

3 Promises from God:

Given this Land

Made into a Great Nation

All Families Blessed

Massive covenant to restore humanity… started with one man’s faith.

He died without seeing any of the promises fulfilled.

2. Moses in the Basket

Exodus 2:1–10

God would:

Set His people free

Lead them to the Promised Land

Establish a new covenant

How did it start? A woman placed her baby in a basket to float down a river… just to

save his life.

3. David Being Chosen

1 Samuel 16:1–13

A turning point for the nation

Establishment of a new covenant (an everlasting throne)

A careful process of selection by God

4. God Coming as a Baby

God Himself came to save all of humanity.

He came as a baby, born to two newlyweds.

Not a king in splendor, but a child in a manger.

5. Jesus Calling His Disciples

Matthew 4

A Rabbi tells fishermen and tax collectors to follow Him.

He recruits eleven riders to help build His Kingdom.

The Illusion of Grandiosity

(Wrongly perceived need for all things to be flashy, big, or impressive)

It’s the false expectation that when God moves, it must look big, loud, flashy, or

important by human standards.

Examples:

• David vs. Goliath – Everyone expected a warrior, but God used a shepherd boy

• Elijah on the Mountain – God wasn’t in the wind, earthquake, or fire — He was in

a whisper

• The Cross of Christ – Looked like defeat, but was the greatest victory in history

We often think bands, trumpets, honor, glory, applause, wealth, and riches equal

success and spirituality.

Matthew 13:31–32 — The Mustard Seed

“The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed… the smallest of all seeds, but

grows to be larger than all garden plants and becomes a tree.”

1 Corinthians 1:27

“God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise…”

In a Similar Way…

In the quietness and humbleness of everyday decisions:

God is building and perfecting His bride through your marriage and child-raising.

Get the gravity of this.

Like our fathers before us—

People watching from the outside wouldn’t have known it at the time.

It seems small.

It seems insignificant.

But:

We know we are building marriages that will rob the gates of hell.

We are raising warriors for Christ who will bring revival to this nation.

So Remember:

Your everyday decisions — your small arguments, your quiet prayers, your acts of faith

— bear weight.

They matter.

They are important.

That’s Why Holiness and Sanctification

Matter

We aren’t just here for a good time.

We are building a Kingdom.

Your Marriage:

Produces godly adults

Produces godly offspring

Produces a pure bride for Christ

Revelation 19:7–8 (ESV)

"Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory,

for the marriage of the Lamb has come,

and His Bride has made herself ready;

it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints."

Colossians 1:21–22 (ESV)

"And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,

He has now reconciled...

in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before Him..."

Ephesians 5:25–27 (ESV)

"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,

so that He might present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or

any such thing,

that she might be holy and without blemish."

1 Corinthians 1:27

“God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise…”

Final Word:

If you want to be great in the Kingdom —

Go home.

Love your wife.

Love your husband.

Train your children.
