Basic Definitions

Genetics - is the study of genes and how traits are passed down from one generation to the other

Epigenetics - is the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression rather than alteration

Chronic inflammation - is a slow long term inflammation lasting for prolonged periods of several months to years

Microbiome - is the collection of all the microorganism and viruses that live inside and outside the human body

Malnutrition - includes lack of proper nutrition caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that

one does eat.


Sedentary behavior - refers to activities that do not increase energy expenditure substantially above the resting level less than or equal to 1.5 metabolic equivalent

Physical activity - is any body movement generated by skeletal muscles that raises energy expenditure above resting level

Toxin / Poison - is a chemical which damages an organism

Poor nocturnal sleep - involves problems with quality, timing and amount of sleep

Substance abuse - is a pattern of using s substance that, causes significant problem or distress

Stress - is any type of change that causes physical, emotional or psychological

strain

Vertical relationship - is the relationship between an individual with God

Horizontal relationship - is the relationship between an individual with others

Hormonal imbalance - is when you have too much or too little of one or more hormone

Infections - is the invasion of tissues by pathogens
